Redfish
Redfish—often written as “red fish”—are a favorite target for our guests. From first-time anglers to experienced crews, tell Conlon about the kind of redfish trip you have in mind.
Plan a private fishing trip around Lake Charles and Hackberry with Captain Conlon Brashear. Fish Calcasieu Lake (Big Lake) or Sabine Lake for redfish, speckled trout, and flounder.
Plan your fishing tripIf you’re searching for Calcasieu Lake fishing or Big Lake fishing, you’re looking at the same Southwest Louisiana destination. Captain Conlon has built his guiding career on Calcasieu Lake and Sabine Lake, with 13 years of professional guide experience and tens of thousands of hours on the water.
Your trip is planned around your crew, your interests, and conditions on the water. Tell Conlon whether you’re hoping for your first redfish, a speckled trout trip with friends, or a comfortable family outing. Fish and weather conditions vary, so a particular species or a limit of fish is never guaranteed.
Staying in Hackberry or meeting friends nearby? Tell Conlon where you’ll be staying when you request your fishing trip. Pickup locations include Calcasieu Point Landing, Spicer Hughes Marina, Hebert’s Marina, Hackberry Fish Camp, and Golden Nugget Casino. Conlon will choose and confirm the meeting point and departure time directly with you.
The marina is a meeting option, not a permanent Gills & Bills storefront. Please arrange your trip before traveling to a launch. If you need help finding lodging, ask early about available options for your dates.

Our trout trips target speckled trout, also called spotted seatrout. Whether you enjoy fishing for a catch to take home or hope to beat your personal best, share your goals with Conlon before the trip.
Flounder are another target on our local waters. Ask Conlon about current opportunities for your dates and how a flounder trip fits the conditions and your crew’s plans.
Conlon will discuss current fishing opportunities and the rules that apply to your trip. Review licensing needs with him before departure; our trip FAQs explain how to prepare.
You’ll fish aboard a comfortable 25-foot Haynie center console with room to store your gear. Rods, reels, tackle, live bait, bottled water, ice, and catch cleaning and packaging are included. Bring lunch and snacks, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, a light rain jacket, and a small ice chest if you’d like extra drinks. Your own fishing gear is welcome.
Morning, afternoon, and full-day fishing trips are $750 total for two or three anglers. Two to three people per boat is recommended. A fourth spot is available for families with children by prior arrangement with Conlon, at $1,000 total. Corporate groups and bachelor parties can be arranged with advance planning.
